Portugal
Portuguese wines are mostly associated with Port, however there is so much more to be explored in this region. The wine making in Portugal started with the ancient civilization such as the Phoenicians, Carthaginians, Greeks and mostly the romans.
The cool verdant north west of Portugal is the main area of a unique refreshing and delicate flavoured wines: the Vinho Verde. The Alvarinho Vino Verde is made entirely in the small sub region of Moncao and Melaco with it's elegant pale lemon colour, high acidity and low alcohol and hints of tropical fruits.
