Blanc de Blancs Champagne

The Champagne Style of Blanc de Blanc means made only from Chardonnay grapes. The Chardonnay vineyards in the Champagne Province run from Cramant and Mesnil-sur-Oger. A classic Blanc de Blancs is restrained and elegant when young, as it ages it develops a brioche richness that overlays an intense expression of fruitiness. Blanc de Blancs are endowed with longer ageing potential than a Blanc de Noirs.

Delicate and elegant a number of the most revered wines in Champagne are made from Chardonnay. Krug’s eye-wateringly expensive Clos du Mesnil from a walled 1.85-hectare vineyard in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger or the jewel in Taittinger’s crown, Comtes de Champagne, made from Chardonnay grown in five Grand Cru vineyards on the Côtes de Blancs.
