Gamay

Gamay is a French black grape, mainly used to produce the exquisite Beaujolais wine. The real name for this grape is Gamay Noir a Jus Blanc (white juice black Gamay). Beaujolais wine depends entirely on this grape, supposedly member of the Burgundian grapes family generated by Pinot Noir. The wine produced is quite high in acidity but light in tannin and colour, and the aroma is a very soft blackcurrant and raspberry with hints of violet.
