Even though a selection of grape varieties tend to feature most prominently such as Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay or Malbec, there are hundreds of grape varieties to choose from. Wines are either a blend of these different grape types or are a varietal, made to make a particular style of wine. The grape from which a wine is produced is at the heart of a wines character, colour and flavour. If you know like a wine where you enjoy its characteristics, you can also search for new wines by the grape used in that blend or varietal.
