Rare Brut Vintage 1988 Champagne 75cl
Rare Brut Vintage 1988 Champagne is a composition of 70% Chardonnay and 30% Pinot Noir. The idea behind the Rare cuvees is to reveal the characteristics of vintage years that have undergone extraordinary conditions, not typically beneficial for winemaking, and yet the winemakers have used their expertise and creativity to present a cuvee of exquisite purity. In the case of 1988, the year was controversial, producing lovely vintages, with an Easten aura and a pronounced maturity.

Grape: Chardonnay, Pinot Noir
Golden in colour. The wine is complex, expressing initial aromas of plants, dried fern and humus which develop into sensual truffle fragrance and floral notes of freesia, lily and peony. The aromas are balanced with the refreshing notes of eucalyptus, mint and verbana along with delicate aromas of fruit such a white peach and dried apricot. As the wine breathes, warm notes of roasted coffee, aged rum and vanilla become evident.
On the palate, the wine presents itself as powerful yet elegant with an initial attack, bursting of flavour. Intense notes of dried fruit, hazelnuts and dried currents. Aromas of plants and herbs, peppered with hints of eucalyptus and sandalwood balance themself gracegully with a delicious taste of roasted pineapple.

A fantastic aperitif. Pairs excellently with the British classic of fish and chips or match with a winter warmer of Chestnut soup.
