Querciabella Batàr 2014 Toscana IGT Red Wine 75cl has been described as 'a dream of a white' due to its richness, complexity and length as well as its incredible cellaring potential. This barrique fermented 'white Supertuscan' reached full maturity about 42 months after harvest while its maturity plateau spans from four to twenty years or more after harvest.
50% Chardonnay and 50% Pinot Bianco from vineyards situated in the exclusive sub-zone of Ruffoli, on a hillside in the commune of Greve in Chianti.

2014 saw a cool spring followed by high temperatures causing an early bud break. Late June, July and August experienced quite cool temperatures and September and October were considerably mild.
A fantastically intense bouquet opens up the wine with notes of melon, honey, oak and hints of smoke. The palate is full-bodied with a rounded, creamy texture and excellently balanced acidity with a sweet spice. The finish is long and persistent with tropical fruits and hints of liquorice.
This wine is perfect when enjoyed on its own however also pairs well with nutty, warm and rich flavours.
The vineyards have been organically farmed since the wine's first vintage in 1988 and fully converted their techniques to being proudly biodynamic in 2000. The alcoholic fermentation for this wine takes place in French barriques where the separate lots of Pinot Bianco and Chardonnay undergo full malolactic fermentation. Barrel maturation takes 9 to 12 months for this wine and after the blending, the wine is transferred to cement tanks for six months. The wine then ages in the bottle for a further six months prior to release.
