Pierre Gimonnet et Fils Gastronome Extra Brut 2018 Champagne 75cl

Pierre Gimonnet et Fils Brut Gastronome 2018 is a Champagne designed with gastronomy in mind. Produced with lower pressure than a standard bottle of Champagne, the mousse has a creamier, softer texture and a more gentle fizz than most Champagnes. The theory is that this is less intrusive on the palate, and therefore is more able to be enjoyed with an array of foods.

The 2018 Gastronome is a Blanc de Blancs (100% Chardonnay) and is sourced entirely from the Côte des Blancs. Two thirds come from Grand Cru vineyards (in the villages of Cramant, Chouilly and Oger) and one third Premier Cru (Vertus and Cuis). As with all of Gimonnet's wines, the flavours are terroir-focused, and a very pure expression of Côte des Blancs Chardonnay.

2018 was a year that blessed growers with both quantity and quality. A wet winter raised the water reserves, and then a very hot summer, with just enough rainfall, ensured a ripe and healthy crop. The picked grapes, although ripe, also had reasonable acidity levels, which promises beautifully balanced wines.
Elegantly light and floral on the nose with an exciting palate of stone fruit and brioche leading to a long and slightly nutty finish.
