Louis Roederer Vintage Rosé Vintage Champagne 2012 Magnum (150cl) of Champagne is a unique and rare Champagne of exceptional style thanks to the very particular way in which it is made. Louis Roederer is one of the few Houses that still use maceration on skins, a delicate method by which Pinot Noir grapes are left to macerate on the press for several hours to extract more fruit and colour.

2012 gave rich, full-bodied and structured wines worthy of one of the greatest vintages in Champagne. The Rosé Vintage Champagne 2012  is exceptionally fine, lively sparkle forming even, persistent streams of bubbles. Intense bouquet of ripe fruit (blackcurrant) and candied orange, accompanied by subtle notes of orange blossom and Madagascar vanilla. The bouquet is very stable, dense and opens out slowly to reveal a deep, sweet character. Smooth and full-bodied on entry to the palate. Its ripe, warm palate is both tactile (silky texture) and rounded (ripe, sweet anthocyanins with an almost liquorous consistency), and is lengthened by a fresh, chalky finish. Subtle notes of hazelnut and cocoa beans linger on the end palate.

Over the years Louis Roederer has developed a unique technique for the production of its rosé champagnes.
This process, referred to by Roederer as the ‘infusion’ technique, allows us to bring out the juicy, ripe character of the Pinot noirs whilst preserving their exceptional freshness. A small amount of Chardonnay juice is added to the Pinot Noir maceration which then ferment together and integrate harmoniously.

'The 2012 Brut Rosé Vintage is another compelling wine in this range from Roederer. Creamy, open-knit and radiant, the 2012 captures the natural radiance and generosity of this vintage beautifulosély. Red berries, chalk, white flowers and mint build in a wonderfully inviting, layered Champagne. Floral overtones add freshness and perfume to play off the rich fruit. Dense and racy, but not at all heavy, the Rosé Vintage is positively stellar in 2012.'

Antonio Galloni 93/100

'Pale peach-toned colour. Elegant, delicate style, lots of racy peachy fruitiness. Crisp and super young, and holds back a lot still. Linear and focused with plenty of interesting tension and dynamism.'

Essie Avellan 93-5/100
Grape: Chardonnay, Pinot Noir
2012 was one of the most challenging and complicated years ever experienced in Champagne. Yet difficult conditions often lead to great things… The low yields, due to the vagaries of the weather, combined with continental conditions towards the end of the season, gave us unusual levels of maturity, resulting in rich, full-bodied and structured wines worthy of the greatest vintages in Champagne.

Over the years Louis Roederer has developed a unique technique for the production of its rosé champagnes.
This process, referred to by Roederer as the ‘infusion’ technique, allows us to bring out the juicy, ripe character of the Pinot noirs whilst preserving their exceptional freshness. Delicate pink colour with slight blue hints & lively stream of fine bubbles. The pure, precise bouquet mingles sweet honeysuckle and lily with bright red fruit and mandarin zest, combined with typical Louis Roederer smokiness and ripeness. Precision and purity are echoed on the palate with a crunchy, mature attack of Pinot Noir, accompanied by freshness from the Chardonnay. After aeration, flavours of ripe, juicy fruit blend in a texture that is both smooth and fresh. Finesse and elegance with a long finish.

The cuvée Rosé 2012 was bottle-aged for 4 years before being left to rest for a further 6 months after disgorging in order to attain perfect maturity. The dosage is 9 g/l.
A fantastic pairing with fish such as salmon; meat including lamb, veal, guinea fowl, and even pheasant; also soft cheeses such as Chaource and Brillat-Savarin. It can also be served with red fruit-based desserts that are less sweet, such as a red fruit zabaglione or a red fruit gratin.

Founded in 1776, and property of the same family since 1819, Champagne Louis Roederer is today one of the last major champagne houses to be an independent family affair and is the largest independent family-managed Champagne producer. The annual production of its wines (Brut Premier, Carte Blanche, Brut Vintage, Rose Vintage, Blanc de Blancs, Cristal, Cristal Rose) represents just over three million bottles, distributed to 100 countries worldwide.
