La Crema Sonoma Coast Chardonnay White Wine 2021 California 75cl

La Crema Sonoma Coast Chardonnay is a lovely example of the freshness and subtlety that this grape can achieve in the cooler spots of California. Sourced from several vineyards in the large Sonoma Coast AVA, the sites are influenced by cooling fogs that roll in daily from the Pacific. The resultant low temperatures, and the quality of the low-vigour vineyards, are key in influencing the quality of the wine. In the winery, vineyard blocks are vinified separately and monitored by Head Winemaker Craig McAllister. Partial malolactic fermentation gives a rounded feel to the wine, and 6 months maturation in oak barrels adds an attractive, subtle toastiness that never threatens to overtake the delicate, fresh fruit character.
