Mourvedre is a red wine grape from France, also known as Mataro and Monastrell. It is the main grape in Bandol, Provence and it is also planted in Australia and California.
The wine is extremely purple and tannic, when young presents scents of black berries – Blueberry, Blackberry and Plum – leather, tobacco, black pepper notes and smoke. This full bodied wine can be perfectly paired with rich foods in order to soften and adsorb the high tannin. Beef ribs, bbq and foods with rosemary and thyme.
