Turkey Flat Mataro offers a rare solo expression of this late-ripening grape variety, which is well suited to the hot climate of Barossa Valley. It offers a typically dark-fruited, brooding wine with rugged tannins, earthy spice, tar and a touch of leather. Ageing will reveal meaty, gamey flavours that this variety is famous for.
The Schulz family has owned the Turkey Flat estate since 1865, making them part of Barossa Valley's history and a reference point for the region's wines. They have become renowned for their expertise in Rhône varieties, producing intense, age-worthy reds and textural, rich whites.
