Taittinger produces vintage champagne in years when the harvest has been exceptional. Their brut vintage is always a blend of juice that is exclusively from the first pressing of the grapes. It is then aged for a minimum of four years which allows the aromas to mature slowly and the length and complexity of the wine to develop. The 2015 is made from Grand Cru Chardonnay from Côte des Blancs and Premier Cru Pinot Noir from Montagne de Reims and the Vallée de la Marne.
The vineyards owned by Taittinger spread across 288 hectares, making it the third largest vineyard in Champagne. The whole vineyard bears a High Environmental Value Certificate.

Grape: Chardonnay, Pinot Noir
2014 was characterised by rainy spells and mild temperatures and required the utmost vigilance in the vineyard to avoid disease developing in the grapes. The constant attention by the Taittinger team meant that harvest could take place in Mid-September. The Chardonnay grapes were full and acidic, with beautiful floral notes. The Pinot Noir offered an alluring and bold expression that maintained structure and liveliness.
The 2015 brut vintage champagne from Taittinger has a fresh and delicately aromatic bouquet. Floral aromas of lime blossom, fresh spring flowers and honeysuckle are present on the nose. Deeper notes of almond make way for subtle brioche notes. On the palate, an initial attack of granny smith apple and lemon leads into richer notes of peach and freshly baked bread. This generous, fruity aspect makes it approachable now, but there is certainly enough structure to mature in bottle and gain some toasty complexity.
