Ridge Lytton Springs Red Wine 2019 California 75cl
The historic vineyard of Lytton Springs in Dry Creek Valley is planted with a mix of zinfandel, petite sirah, carignane and mataro. Some of the vines exceed 100 years of age, contributing awesome depth and intensity to the wines. Since 1972, Ridge has consistently produced outstanding wines from this single vineyard, and in 1991 they took full ownership of the estate. The complexity and character is derived from the blend of varieties and the diversity of soils across the estate, the finished wine being greater than the sum of its parts.

Grape: Carignan, Mataro, Petite Sirah, Zinfandel
The 2019 Lytton Springs has expressive aromas of raspberries, pepper, anise and rose. The palate is rich and full, with some darker blackberry. Firm, ripe tannins and a balancing touch of acidity from the carignane component really makes this a complete wine, and a Californian classic.
This bold wine is fantastic with all manner of dishes, particularly grilled red meat or proper burgers. A vegetarian tomato-based tagine with a gentle spice from rose harissa would also carry the wine well.
