Initially fruit driven with aromas of peach and apricot which develop into notes of pastries and almond. The palate is a reflection of the nose, displaying a fresh, creaminess with notes of pastries and a spicy finish.
The Cuvee 1522 is wonderfully full bodied, making it an excellent champagne to accompany meals. Due to the dry nature of the wine, it pairs perfectly with seafood, poached and grilled fish in particular. Other great food pairings include dishes with poultry, caviar or spicy dishes such as Indian tandoori.
In 1522, the Philipponnat family settled in the village of Ay, in the heart of the Champagne wine-growing area and the name of the Cuvee pays tribute to the House's beginning.
