Drappier Grande Sendrée Cuvée Rosé takes its name from a piece of land covered in cinders (cendrée) after a fire ravaged Urville in 1838. Cendree changed to Sendree after a light spelling error made its way into the new versino of the land register.

A reproduction of an 18th century bottle found in the Urville cellars is used and the Grande Sendrée undergoes remuage entirely by hand.

Chardonnay 8% and Pinot Noir 92%, the Pinot Noir brings its power and vinosity in a very subtle manner and a splash of Chardonnay gives a touch of freshness to this fine rose.  35% of the wines are matured in barrels. Very low sulphites.

The Grande Sendree Rose 2010 is produced in very limited quantities as only the best parcels from the oldest vines are harvested.
A fresh and complex bouquet of delicate strawberry flavours with slight aromas of honeyed apricot. A lively mouthfeel with the expression of red fruits. This rich Champagne has great persistence.
Ideal as an aperitif and a wonderful accompaniment to saffron creamed mussels, crayfish salad, lamb shank or monkfish panna cotta.
