Macabeo
Macabeo, also named Viura or Macabeu, is a white wine grape variety. It is grown in Rioja, the northeastern region of Spain, the areas south of Barcelona, and the Languedoc-Roussillon region in France.
It is a very important grape for the production of Cava sparkling wine and its delicate foral notes develop when it comes to its ripeness. It is usually harvested early to retain acidity. This grape is easy to cultivate and produces good yields, especially in hot and dry Mediterranean climates. Macabeo is a versatile grape and gives a range of styles, from dry to sweet as well as sparkling.
