The 2012 promises to be one of the great Pol Roger Vintages. The ‘Cuvée Sir Winston Churchill’, created in homage to Pol Roger’s most illustrious devotee, is appropriately composed of only the best grapes, from only the best vineyard sites to which Pol Roger has access and from only the finest vintage years declared by the House. As Sir Winston himself once declared: ‘My tastes are simple. I am easily satisfied with the best!".

The winter of 2012 was mild and dry however the start of February saw a very cold snap. Spring was cool and rainy with unusual warmth in late March followed by rain, mild temperatures and five spells of frost in April and May causing concern. Hot, sunny weather began in late July and continued into September ensuring the grapes reached ideal maturity.
Broad and impressive aromas of apples, manuka honey and toasted hazelnuts. The palate is soft and rounded due to the time spent on the lees but also has taut minerality and acidity. The finish is rich and long - allow this wine to gain even more complexity over the years as it ages.

special gift I feel it is worth every penny
This was a thank you gift to some champagne enthusiasts so I cannot report on the taste, quality or style other than to say I have read very good things about this vintage. It isn't the cheapest but as a special gift I feel it is worth every penny for people I know will appreciate it very much.
