Pol Roger Sir Winston Churchill 2018 Vintage Champagne is the 22nd release of the Cuvée Sir Winston Churchill, and presents as brilliantly gold in colour, with delicate bubbles. A true testament to the champagne's long ageing in the deepest cellars.
Champagne Pol Roger have created their esteemed cuvée in tribute to Sir Winston Churchill, reflecting the qualities that he coveted in champagne: a full-bodied character, relative maturity and a firm structure.
The exact blend is a closely guarded family secret; however, the blend used to create this cuvée is comprised exclusively of grapes sourced from the Grands Crus Chardonnay and Pinot Noir vineyards, and the resulting champagne is produced in only the very best vintages and in very small quantities. There is no doubt that the composition would have been met with the approval of the man to whom it is dedicated: "My tastes are simple, I am easily satisfied with the best".
Pinot Noir prevails in the blend, providing breadth, firmness and structure, whilst the Chardonnay contributes subtlety, elegance and finesse.
