S.C. Pannell Old McDonald Blewitt Springs McLaren Vale Grenache 75cl
The S.C. Pannell Old McDonald Blewitt Springs McLaren Vale Grenache 2021 is the product of a vintage described as 'mostly joyous but not without its challenges' by SC Pannell: good winter rain led to strong growth, with good cover in the mid row and under vine well into summer. Plentiful bunches, good canopies and no disease pressure led to a long ripening season. The greatest challenge was having enough hours and people to help with harvesting the plentiful and perfectly ripe fruit.
The hand harvested grapes are crushed upon their arrival to the winery, and then fermented in one stainless steel open-top fermenter. The juice remained on skins for 15 days, before being gentle pressed and, after settling in tank for 20 days, they were they transferred to an old French oak vat, to allow for extended maturation and malolactic fermentation. The wine was then racked twice and bottled, without adjustment, additions, filtration or fining on 13th December 2021.
