Paxton Queen of the Hive Shiraz Mataro 2022 is named in honour of the Queen Bee, the epicentre of bee society around which all the hives effort revolves. The 2022 vintage is produced in the Mclaren Vale region and is a blend of predominantly Grenache and Shiraz (the classic Australian combination) but also a smattering of Cabernet Sauvignon and Mataro, which they've added to keep up the intrigue.
A bright and expressive wine with hints of fennel seed aromas of plum, boysenberry intermixed cherry, black pepper, nutmeg and star anise.
All of the Paxton family wines are farmed biodynamically and are certified organic.

Grape: Merlot, Shiraz
Deep ruby-red with a purple hue, lighter on the rim. The nose is gently full and powerful, with aromas of Black Doris plum, boysenberry, sweet floral, overlying nutmeg, black pepper and star anise dustings. Medium-full bodied, aromas of plum, boysenberry intermixed cherry, sweet floral, black pepper, nutmeg and star anise. The mouthfeel is elegant; supple tannins provide a dusty texture; lively acidity carries good energy and vibrancy to a sustained finish.
