Henschke Hill of Grace Eden Valley Shiraz Australia 75cl
Henschke Hill of Grace 2021 Shiraz is a prestigious red wine from the Eden Valley region of Australia. It has gained worldwide recognition and will be remembered as a standout of the decade. The 2021 is the 59th release of Henschke Hill of Grace, and like every vintage, it is limited by the season and the size of the vineyard - just four hectares. The 2021 has been released ahead of the 2020, which after a difficult growing season yielded such minimum results that it will be cellared for future release through the Henschke Museum and Rare Program.
Handpicked and aged in French oak barrels, the resulting wine is fine and elegant, showcasing complex flavours of violets and dark berries. A wine of exceptional quality that is ideal for drinking now, but would have an incredible ability to age for 30+ years.
The Henschke family has been making wine since Johann Christian Henschke planted his first vineyard in Barossa’s Eden Valley in the early 1860s, with the first commercial release in 1868. Fourth-generation winemaker Cyril Henschke pioneered varietal and single-vineyard wines in the 1950s. His greatest legacy is the creation of the ‘Hill of Grace’ wines made entirely from Eden Valley Shiraz, which have become an integral part of Australia’s fine wine history.

‘100 points. Knife-edge balance, incredible length, that creamy and seductive texture, silk tannins – this is an amazing wine that more than lives up to the hype. Well cellared examples should provide immense pleasure over the next forty to fifty years.” - Ken Gargett.
‘100 points. A beguiling and lasting landmark Hill of Grace vintage with wonderful definition, vinosity and torque. $1000.' - Andrew Caillard MW, The Vintage Journal.
'99 points. Incredibly fresh and refined, with deeply brooding notes of dark plums, mocha, graphite, five spice and cured meat. The palate is ultra-refined and pure, with balanced acidity, seamlessly integrated tannins and a creamy texture…It is truly exceptional, and is an icon of Australia for a reason.' - Ryan Montgomery, JamesSuckling.com
The 2021 vintage will be remembered as a standout of the decade. Despite a challenging start to the season involving frost damage and strong winds, the vines enjoyed dry weather in January and perfectly timed rain. After the coolest summer on record for 19 years, a warm autumn provided ideal ripening conditions ahead of harvest. The resulting yields allowed for a complex wine that offered an exceptional varietal expression, balance, and purity.
