The wine was aged for 18 months in oak barrels, before being bottled without fining or filtering. The resulting wine is vibrant and powerful, with dark cherry aromas.
The wine is vegan and produced at a vineyard that is certified organic and biodynamic. The Gaia vineyard is the highest vineyard in Clare Valley, and consists of two hectares of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc.

Grape: Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon
The season started with a dry, cool autumn, followed by heavy winter rainfall. Higher than average rain in spring led to decent soil moisture and well-irrigated vines. Budburst was delayed slightly and combined with a cool summer, led to one of the latest starts to the vintage in over a decade. Nonetheless, the region managed to escape damage from fire and hail. The grapes ripened gradually and vines ended up producing fruit with healthy natural acid levels and complex varietal character.
The 2022 Gaia highlights the benefits of low yields with the intensity of its flavours, power, and the promise it holds for the future. There are vibrant bramble, blackcurrant, and dark cherry aromas, before a palate that shows power, weight, and depth of flavour. The tannins are fine and elegant.
