Glaetzer Bishop 2021 is a celebration of Shiraz from Barossa Valley, and is elegantly structured with a long finish. Bishop is the family name of winemaker Colin's wife Judith, and the bottle fittingly bears the symbol for Venus, which represents women and feminine energy.
The wine has been matured for 16 months in a mix of 40% new oak and 60% old oak barrels. Ben Glaetzer makes unique, elegant wines with minimal intervention, which are regarded as classics and unmistakably Barossan. His ability to blend traditional winemaking techniques with a modern flair is reflected in the style of wines under the Glaetzer label.
The 2021 Shiraz makes great drinking now but can also be cellared for up to 15 years.

'A shiraz with rich blackberry, black cherry and dark plum fruits, layered with broody spice, licorice, dark chocolate and earth. Balanced, fruit-pure, powdery of tannin, and with some acid lift, it delivers a lot of classic Barossa oomph for the buck, and sometimes, that is just what you need. Good rainfall towards the end of Spring and cooler temperatures over the Summer led to excellent soil moisture and vine health over the growing period. Mild and dry conditions during late Summer and Autumn were excellent for flowering, bud burst and veraison.
On the nose, subtle yet generous aromas of black cherries and dried spice are present. The palate is expressive and is both structured and layered. Flavours of raspberry, black cherry, olive and black pepper are supported by balancing tannin. The wine is mouth-filling and persistent on the finish.
