Clonakilla Hilltops Shiraz 2022 is a medium-bodied concentrated red wine from the Canberra region of Australia. Hailing from the Hilltops district in Canberra, the wine is made using the highest quality grapes and is aged in French oak barrels for 12 months, creating a smooth and velvety finish.
The grapes for this Shiraz were selected from four vineyards where the altitude is marginally lower than Canberra so the grapes tend to be harvested earlier. Soils are deep red loam over light clay, giving distinctive blackberry and blackcurrant notes to the wine.
Clonakilla is one of the leading estates in Australia, with an enviable reputation for producing Shiraz. Clonakilla means ‘meadow of the church’ in Gaelic and is the name of the founder’s grandfather’s farm in County Clare, Ireland.
