Chatto Bird Pipers River Pinot Noir Australia 75cl
The Chatto Bird Pipers River Pinot Noir 2023 has a fresh acidity, texture, balance and harmony, combining to create a deliciously well-rounded red wine.
To create this wine, grapes were hand-picked, then cold soaked for 5 days before fermentation. From there, the grapes were hand plunged and left in contact with skins for 10 days before being pressed directly to French, old oak puncheons, where the wine matured for 10 months before bottling.
The Bird Vineyard is located in the Pipers River Region, and was planned in 1998. The vineyard is north facing, and the soil is sandy loam. The 2023 vintage in Tasmania was cool, and the low temperatures, united with the high levels of rainfall during spring and winter, postponed ripening and disrupted flowering. This resulted in reduced yields, and the wines created were of an extraordinary quality, with a naturally high acidity and finesse.
