Charles Melton Nine Popes Barossa Valley Australia 75cl
Charles Melton Nine Popes 2019 is their legendary GSM blend, made up of 49% Grenache, 48% Shiraz and 3% Mataro. Aged in French Oak barrels, the wine is deep and complex with incredible aromatics and freshness. Named Nine Popes after the mistaken translation of ‘Châteauneuf du Pape' region of which the wine is based - accidentally translating "Castle of the new Pope" as "Castle of the Nine Popes"
Nine Popes has vibrant notes of blue and red fruits, paired with an underlying earthiness. An overall elegant wine that offers structure, breadth and a lusciously long finish.
Founded in 1984 by Charles Melton, the winery is known for producing high-quality wines that truly reflect the unique terroirs that Barossa Valley offers. The estate vineyards now comprise 32 hectares, the oldest planted in 1947 and the balance planted from the late 1960s onwards.
