Balnaves Coonawarra Cabernet Merlot is produced at the Balnaves winery, which was established in 1974 in Coonawarra, South Australia. However, the Balnaves family had been working with the wine regions as early as 1855. Today, the vineyards have dramatically improved in quality, with the five hectares of vineyards classified into separate plots based on age, soil quality and the like.

By separating the fruits and processing them separately, the wines created reflect the richness of the land in which they were grown. In addition to this, the winery thoroughly analyse the main features of each wine created from each vineyard, and study the relation between micro-climatic conditions and the quality of the wine produced. This ensures that the vineyards are expertly taken care of and the wines produced are to the highest standard.
