The Xanadu Chardonnay 2023 is produced with predominately Estate grown Chardonnay grapes, grown in the Wallcliffe sub-region, with 70% of the blend being made with fruit sourced from the Stevens Road, Boodjidup and Lagan Vineyards.
To create this wine, the fruit is whole bunch pressed, and then barrel fermented in select French oak barriques (25% new oak). To introduce more personality and complexity to the wine, wild fermentation was encouraged, and the final blend was put together in November of 2023.

Grape: Chardonnay
On the nose, the bouquet showcased fresh pears and grapefruit, with subtle tones of flinty barrel ferment characters, adding complexity to the scent. On the palate, this medium bodied Chardonnay displays flavours of white fleshed nectarines, nashi pears and citrus. The wine exhibits a subtle oyster shell/saline, whilst the creamy texture, the result of lees stirring, adds a lovely foil to the vibrant natural acidity retained in the grape.
The Xanadu Chardonnay is an incredibly versatile wine, and would make the perfect addition to a meal of roasted chicken, grilled fish, creamy pasta dishes and some cheeses.
