Momento Chardonnay 2023 is a medium-bodied wine sourced from vineyards in South Australia. Momento's winemaking is focused on minimal intervention, with the use of wild yeasts, malolactic fermentation, lees contact and subtle oak to give the Chardonnay depth, complexity and personality.
The 2023 vintage has slight oak hints, with small hints of cinnamon and spice, which highlight the complexity derived from barrel-matured reserve wine. Ripe nectarine, fig and nougat aromas with accents of wild honey and a balanced acidity.

Grape: Chardonnay
The 2023 vintage was characterised by a cool and wet season, notable for the widespread flooding of the Murray River, which hadn't been seen on such a scale since 1956. The delayed onset of harvest, which was approximately 2-4 weeks behind a typical season, proved to be advantageous for our Chardonnay vines. The extended ripening period allowed for gradual maturation, resulting in Chardonnay grapes with exceptional flavour development and well-balanced natural acidity.
On the nose, aromas of ripe nectarine, fig and nougat are complemented by accents if wild honey. They are supported by freshly cut hay and cinnamon spice complexities from wild fermentation. The 2023 vintage is medium-bodied with layers of flavour that build across the palate, reflecting the fruit and the use of wild fermentation and ageing on lees. On the palate, hints of oak come through as a hint of cinnamon and spice, highlighting the complexity derived from barrel-matured reserve wine. A balanced acidity pushes the wine through to a refreshing finish.
