Rathfinny Estate Classic Cuvée 2019 Sparkling Wine 75cl is created using 57% Pinot Noir, 22% Chardonnay and 21% Pinot Meunier grapes, hand-harvested from the Rathfinny Wine Estate in East Sussex. This is the first vintage of their Classic Sparkling made using the traditional method.
The Rathfinny estate is the perfect site for growing sparkling wine grapes with thin, clay loam soils over chalk creating great sources of water for the vines and the semi-continental climate of the region being very similar to that of Champagne, France.

"Budburst was timely, though it was very wet prior to flowering which, as a result, was slightly later than usual. However, we had a successful fruit set, despite July and the early part of August coming in
cooler than normal. The second half of August brightened up with some very warm days, with this dry weather continuing throughout September until the end of the season, we picked in the latter part of October."

Bright citrus notes on the nose with expressive fruit hints of orchard apples and tangerine. The palate holds a soft mousse with toasted almond flavours and honeydew melon.
Great with deep and earthy notes such as fungi or truffle in a tart or arancini. The creaminess of the wine also pairs excellently with a fish pie.

One glass was not enough!
Whilst visiting London recently I had a glass of this sparkling wine before going to the theatre. I enjoyed it so much that I 'Googled' it when I got home and ordered a bottle from this supplier (more reasonably priced than the Estate that produces it!). It was exactly as I remembered it - delicious; and yes, I was right - one glass was not enough!
