Leftfield Hawke's Bay Malbec 2020 is produced in the Gimblett Gravels region of New Zealand, and is characterised as a fruit-driven yet fresh, medium-bodied wine with supple tannins and notes of plum.
Produced using a combination of traditional and modern techniques that are designed to emphasize fruit freshness and smooth texture. The wine is matured for 18 months in a combination of French and American oak barrels, which contributes notes of vanilla and spice to the final profile.

On the nose, notes of ripe blackberries, plums and wild blueberries are complemented by hints of violet, cracked black pepper and subtle dried herbs. There is a gentle oak influence of vanilla, toasted cedar and touches of cocoa. The palate is medium to full-bodied with a fleshy mouthfeel. Concentrated flavours of dark forest fruits are mixed with savoury elements of liquorice and dark chocolate. It has a vibrant acidity that are supported by smooth, supple tannins. The finish is clean and lingering with a kick of spice.
