Champagne Deutz Brut Vintage 2016 as with the classic house style this is a Pinot Noir dominant Champagne with nearly two-thirds coming from this variety. These Grand Cru Pinot Noir grapes are sourced from the Aÿ, Bouzy and Ambonnay. The rest of the blend is Chardonnay from Mesnil and Chouilly and Pinot Meunier from Leuvrigny. Vinification of all the grapes takes place in stainless steel to maintain freshness and purity.

Deutz was founded in 1838 by entrepreneurs Pierre-Hubert Geldermann and William Deutz, the current owner is Jean-Claude Rouzaud who runs the company with the help of CEO Fabrice Rosset. Today the house is based in the town of Ay and owns 42 hectares of vineyards which produce around 20% of the grapes needed.

The start of the 2012 vintage was badly affected by heavy spring frosts and hail storms, early summer was also difficult with high rainfall and the risk of mildew. However, from August onwards the weather was warm and dry enabling the grape that has set to catch up and harvest take place mid-September.
The Vintage is elegant and effervescent a beautiful golden straw colour with persistent bubbles. On the nose perfumed floral aromas with hints of honeysuckle and white blossom the finish leaves you with ripe stone fruits, lemon sherbert and gooseberries.
Its high Pinot Noir content makes it a great Champagne for pairing with food, try with chicken liver parfait or monkfish.
