"92 points. From a single vineyard in the foothills of McLaren Vale on clay loam with ironstone over Kurrajong Formation geology; matured in mostly older French Oak for 18 months. Damson, de rigueur blackberry and anise, spiced cherry, mocha, allspice and clove, violet and a rocky, ferrous minerality, the palate bound with fine tannin and freshening acidity, with air required to unlock. On the nose, the wine is full of aromas of dark fruits, including boysenberry and plum, with notes of cocoa, violets and white pepper. The palate is rich, layered and velvety with prominent black plum and blackberry flavours that are supported by soft, dry tannins and a subtle spice.
