The Cullen Kevin John Wilyabrup Chardonnay 2021 is vivacious and energetic from the Margaret River region of Australia. The wine balances an irresistible tension between youthful, lively fruits and a crisp acidity. It is a beautifully balanced, pristine Chardonnay, carrying exceptional generosity of flavour.
This white wine will be delicious now, but can also be cellared for up to 20 years.
This wine has been named in tribute to Kevin John Cullen, a beloved pioneer of the Margaret River wine region. All the Chardonnay grapes are grown in the Cullen's own vineyard, where the vines are all over 30 years old, where the soils are sandy loam and old granite, and the aspect is mostly level.

Grape: Chardonnay
A cold, wet December followed by an unusual dry spell until the end of harvest has resulted in a low yielding vintage, but produced some stunning grapes and high quality, extraordinary wine. The grapes were harvested over three weeks according to the biodynamic calendar, and then aged for 8 months in 80% new Oak barrels.
The Cullen Chardonnay is a pure straw colour, and a full-bodied, pure expression of Chardonnay, with a bouquet of orange blossom, peach, nectarine vanilla, white flower and dried pear. On the palate, flavours of peach, grapefruit and nectarine. This wine has fantastic, tightly bound fruit flavours, with phenolic tension at the front, a perfect length and a firm, clean finish.
This Chardonnay would make the perfect pairing to a seafood dish, specifically a dish inclusive of white fish, prawns, herring or crayfish.
