Charles Heidsieck Blanc des Millénaires 2007 Champagne 75cl Gift Boxed
This vintage Charles Heidsieck blends pure Chardonnay from 5 different Crus to create this prestigious Cuvee. The crus were carefully selected based on what characteristics they could add to the champagne: Vertus for its floral freshness; Oger for weight and creaminess; Le Mesnil-sur-Oger for balance; Cramant for complexity and ageability and Avize for minerality.
This Cuvee can be described as a masterpiece for the Côte des Blancs and has been aged for more than 15 years in the chalk cellars of Charles Heidsieck's vineyard.
The Charles Heidsieck cellars are a Unesco World Heritage site and are made up of 8km of chalk tunnels that connect forty-seven subterranean cathedrals called Crayeres.

Grape: Chardonnay
2007 produced Blanc de Blancs that were reminiscent of the greats from the 1980s and 1990s, mirroring their biting acidity and restrained maturity. Spring and bud break started earlier than usual, which triggered concern for the growing season. Poor weather made it difficult to care for the vineyard but despite this, the acidity of the grapes was preserved. Summer was cool and there were heavy rains just before harvest which was very out of character in comparison to previous years. This was an unusual vintage that was befitting of Chardonnay and ended up exceeding usual standards.
On the nose, aromas of fresh grapefruit and yuzu citrus are present alongside hints of buttery caramel, quince, and delicate smoke. The identity of the vintage is evident on the palate, with a sharp and elegant acidity present. From this, a subtle texture reveals itself alongside notes of lemon. This Cuvee is generous, offering a full-bodied finish that is long and silky.
