Hambledon Classic Cuvée Rosé Sparkling Wine NV England 75cl
Hambledon Classic Cuvee Rose Sparkling Wine 75cl is produced exclusively from Hambledon's own estate on the South East facing chalk slopes of Windmill Down, in the historic village of Hambledon. This English fizz has beautiful, vivid wild-strawberry pink with a hue of red onion skin on the rim. On the nose, magnolia blossom is followed stridently by perfumed wild-strawberry compote with hints of buttered white sourdough toast. The palate is rich and mouth filling with flavours of strawberry balanced by zingy tart cranberry and pithy Amalfi lemon notes. The texture is creamy with a clean, crisp, yeasty finish.
At Buckingham Palace in June 2019 at Buckingham Palace, the Royal family and US president were served five wines in total which included this, the Hambledon Classic Cuvée Rosé non-vintage from Hampshire.
The menu began with steamed fillet of halibut with a watercress mousse, asparagus and a chervil sauce, followed by new season lamb from the Windsor estate with herb stuffing, spring vegetables and a Port sauce and finished with a strawberry sable and lemon verbena cream.
Classic Cuvee Rose is a blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, carefully blended to show the best expression of the terroir for each harvest.
Established in 1952 Hambledon vineyard is England's oldest commercial vineyard and Hambledon is also the cradle of Cricket. The vineyards are planted on upper cretaceous belemite chalk, famous for sparkling wine production.
