Château La Mission Haut-Brion 2016 is an iconic Bordeaux blend. Château La Mission Haut-Brion lies just across the road from First Growth Haut-Brion, in the outskirts of Bordeaux, and their wines exude opulence and a sense of chic. The Haut-Brion 2016 was an intriguing blend of 57.5% Merlot and 42.5% Cabernet Sauvignon.

This fine wine vintage presents a remarkable combination of a dense and very aromatic nose, and a generous palate. An exceptional wine to drink now, but could be aged in cellar until 2045.

Founded in the 16th century by the Lestonnac family, the property was then managed by the Lazarist priests. Now belonging to the Clarence Dillon estate and Prince Robert of Luxembourg, Château La Mission Haut-Brion continues to shine among the world's greatest wines.

After a scorching summer in 2016, also marked by drought, the quality of the terroir of La Mission Haut-Brion - helped by timely rains from September 13th, which allowed grapes to reach optimal maturity on Pessac-Léognan.

Tasting Notes

The 2016 is a dark ruby colour. On the nose, notes of blackcurrant, mocha and wood smoke. There is a bold richness on the palate with remarkable tannins. The wine feels restrained despite its concentration and density. La Mission Haut-Brion red 2016 is arguably the most complete and charming wine from the estate in recent years.

Food Suggestions

The Château La Mission Haut-Brion 2016 would pair well alongside red meat-based dishes or feathered game. It would also complement hard cheeses such as an aged Gouda.
