The Liberator Episode 32 Constantia Shiraz Wine 75cl
The Liberator Episode 32 is a blend of 71% Shiraz, 16% Merlot and 12% Cabernet Franc from producer Eagles’ Nest located 10.5 km from the warm False Bay coastline. Richard Kelley is a Master of Wine who specialises in the wines of South Africa having lived and worked in the Cape between 1995 and 2002. Rick seeks out and ‘liberates’ rare wines from around the Cape and releases them in episodes.
Episode 32 or ‘Opposites Attract’ gets its name as, conventionally, the blending of maritime Merlot with continental Syrah would not happen in Old World wines. However, in New World winemaking, a more experimental outlook does not hold back its winemakers.

Grape: Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Shiraz
The Shiraz brings peppery spice, dark fruits and clove. The Merlot adds a soft, plummy texture with blackberry jam. The finish is rich and satisfying with hints of vanilla bean, liquorice and fruitcake.
This is a bold wine that needs bold flavours to pair with, try with blue cheese or grilled red meats.
