Pellegrino Salinaro Grillo White Wine 2021 Italy 75cl
Pellegrino Salinaro Grillo comes from vineyards less than 1km from the Mediterranean sea, in the western side of Sicily. Sea breezes offer a slight cooling effect for the vineyards, allowing balanced dry white wine to be produced. Modern winemaking techniques are employed, with gentle handling of the grapes and low-temperature fermentation, emphasising Grillo's beautiful aromatic profile.
Pellegrino's history of winemaking in Sicily dates back to the 19th Century: they are one of the founding estates of the famous Marsala fortified wine. With the decline in popularity of Marsala, Pellegrino began to research dry table wine production, working out which of the grape varieties could perform well in their varied terroirs. Of their 4 estates, Tenute Salinaro is 14ha and is closest to the coast, just 800m from the Mediterranean sea. Perfect territory for producing aromatic Grillo.
