Louis Roederer Cristal 2016 Vintage Champagne is produced uniquely in the best years when the Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes have reached perfect maturity. It is a highly esteemed Grande Marque's prestige cuvée and is one of Champagne's most iconic wines. Cristal 2016 was assembled from 32 vineyard plots across seven villages in Champagne.
The 2016 release is the fifth Cristal Vintage created from 100% bio-dynamically farmed grapes. Coming from a cool, late vintage, it reveals a rare balance between the intensity of pure aromas and a saline chalky finish. It is the perfect Cristal balance: 50% soil and 50% sun.
Cristal Champagne is a wine that keeps well and can be stored for over twenty years without losing its freshness and character.

2016 was characterised with marked weather variations. Spring was cool and wet whereas summer was warm and dry. A heatwave in late August was followed by dry and sunny weather over the harvest period which proved to be highly beneficial to the ripening of the grapes. Pinot Noir grapes thrived in these conditions and the heat has given them an intensely fruity character with a silky texture. Chardonnays were just as outstanding, but presented as more refined and saline.
