Laurent-Perrier Grand Siècle Iteration N° 26 Champagne is Laurent-Perrier's latest luxury cuvée multi-vintage.
'Wine of the Year 2023' by James Suckling, it is the inspiration of one man: Bernard de Nonancourt, president of the Laurent-Perrier champagne house for more than fifty years. Mother Nature may probably never provide the perfect oenological year, and for Bernard, the art of assemblage allows the creation of this ideal.
The idea of Grand Siècle is based on a single observation: nature will never provide the perfect oenological year but thanks to the art of assemblage, Laurent-Perrier can in fact create it.
Grand Siècle applies the following four rules:
Blending of a section of 3 exceptional years
Blending of a section of 8 of the 17 existing Grand Crus in Champagne
A blend made from a base year ( the youngest ) and 2 additional years.
A blend with a majority of chardonnay supplemented by Pinot Noir and benefiting from more than 10 years of aging in the cellars.

2012 (65%) / 2008 (25%) / 2007 (10%)

Grape: Chardonnay, Pinot Noir
A very complex nose which blends honeysuckle, clementine lemon, and fresh butter aromas which are followed by notes of hazelnut and hints of honey. The palate is delicate and silky with notes of candied lemon and fresh hazelnut. There is a presence of minerality with notes of almonds, clementine and honeysuckle present throughout.
This Champagne pairs extremely well with Thai-style langoustine tartare.

Wonderful iteration of Grand Siegle - fruit forward and great acidity
Wonderful iteration of the Grand Siecle with a large proportion of one of my favourite vintages of champagne - 2012. I cannot think of a better champagne for my 50th birthday.
