Heartland Directors' Cut 2019 Shiraz is a premium wine that showcases the best that Langhorne Creek, South Australia has to offer. It is Heartland's flagship wine and is made from the finest selection of Shiraz from each vintage. As with films, the director's cut is regarded as the definitive version - no compromises. Only the very best grapes from the harvest make the "cut".

The wine has been matured for 14 months in French oak hogsheads; 60% new and 40% used. The result is a full-bodied, rich wine with a gorgeous dark purple color and aromas of black fruits, cocoa, and spices.

Heartland Wines is a joint venture from industry veterans and lifelong mates Ben Glaetzer (of Glaetzer Wines fame) and Nick Keukenmeester in Langhorne Creek, South Australia. From its inception in 1999, Heartland’s ethos has been to create wines of balance, texture and a distinctive Australian identity, with a focus on Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz.

'96 points. Matured in a combination of French and American oak hogsheads, 40% of which was new, for a period of 14 months. Pitch black heart with a deep dark red black tinged hue. Wafting from the glass are heady scents of blackberry, liquorice and dark plum infused with choc mint. Vanillin oak, mocha and spice ensue. Rich, expansive and luxurious in its feel, the mouth is flooded with luscious blackberry, liquorice and plum fruits which morph into elements of choc mint, vanillin oak and spicy mocha. Bright finish with nicely integrated velvet like tannins leading into a long super sleek conclusion.' Nicks Wine Reviews.
Grape: Shiraz
Apart from a heat spike in January, Langhorne Creek stayed reasonably cool with average temperatures nearly 10 degrees below Barossa Valley and McLaren Vale. Despite all the usual fears it was a trouble-free and high quality harvest. This why the quality and consistency of Langhorne Creek is gaining acknowledgement around the world.
The Directors' Cut Chiraz is an opaque mulberry colour with crimson hues. On the nose, blackberry jam and Turkish spice are present. The palate offers purple fruits with hints of rich aniseed and refreshing rosewater. The finish is refreshingly long.
The wine is a perfect companion for grilled meats, hearty stews or cheese platters.
