Château Montrose 2017 is a 2ème Cru Classé wine from the Saint-Estèphe appellation of Bordeaux, and is a blend of 76% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot, which is typical for Montrose. The 2017 from Château Montrose is medium to full-bodied with a refined, layered core of dark fruit. A vintage that perfectly reflects the signature of the Saint-Estèphe terroir, with excellent ageing potential. 

The estate uses multiple small vats to vinify individual parcels for precision before blending and ageing in oak for an extended period. 

Château Montrose are pioneers in the Médoc, and has been managed by three families of owners across two centuries. The estate has a unique place in the world of exceptional wines.

Grape: Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot
2017 started with a mild and dry winter that was marked by 2 weeks of cold at the end of January. The temperatures remained mild in the spring, allowing uniform bud burst as from 29 March. An early vintage seemed likely, but the growth cycle slowed down at the end of April under the influence of cooler temperatures. The summer-like conditions in May and June favoured uniform flowering. Harvest took place under ideal conditions. The team of around a hundred pickers worked within the plots, in a very smoothly run operation.
Tasting Notes
On the nose, notes of black cherry, cassis and blackberry preserves are revealed, along with spices, violet, dark chocolate and subtle mineral notes. The palate is powerful and balanced with pure fruit notes. The mouth, full and elegant, is marked by the persistence of a juicy fruit and reveals supple and mellow tannins.
Food Suggestions
Château Montrose 2017 2ème Cru Classé pairs perfectly alongside classic red meat dishes such as a beef wellington, or earthy dishes such as Porcini Risotto with truffle.
