Billecart-Salmon Vintage 2013 Champagne is exquisitely balanced and elegant. Comprised of 62% Pinot Noir, 24% Chardonnay and 14% Meunier, the grapes come from mostly Premier and Grand Cru vineyards across the Montagne de Reims, Côte des Blancs and Vallée de la Marne. The wine underwent 89 months on the lees, resulting in a slow evolution of autolytic characters and great freshness.

Grape: Chardonnay, Pinot Noir
2013 was a solid vintage. Winter and spring were wet, hydrating the soils for the growing season ahead. Summer was mild, with no major heat spikes or freak weather patterns. The cooler temperatures meant a long growing season and a harvest that took place relatively late by modern standards. The best wines have a lovely balance, thanks to long, even ripening.
Well-defined fruit aromas of pomelo and redcurrant are accompanied by notes of hazelnut and appealing bread and pastry. On the palate, Pinot Noir steps forward with notes of blueberry and cherry. The palate texture is creamy, silky and supple, and the finish is nuanced and long.
Has the purity for raw or cured seafood, or can be used as a foil for seared foie gras.
