Barone Ricasoli Chianti Classico CeniPrimo Red Wine 2019 Italy 75cl
CeniPrimo is one of Barone Ricasoli's a single vineyard Chianti Classico, and has achieved the top-tier of quality designation - Gran Selezione. The vineyard sits at roughly 300 metres, facing South-West, in the valley of the river Arbia, with complex soils originating from an ancient river terrace. There are silty deposits, with stones, clay and limestones. In the winery, the wine spent 22 months in 500-litre tonneaux, 30% new oak and 70% 2nd use. CeniPrimo tends to be a complex, elegant and well-structured for long ageing in bottle.

"This has an intensely perfumed nose of lavender, sandalwood, dried cherries, blueberries, creme de cassis, bay leaves, walnuts and stones. Full-bodied with polished, well-integrated tannins and a layered, silky and concentrated core of spiced and herbed fruit. Long. Intense." 99 Points - James Suckling
"Barone Ricasoli has successful brought out the individual character of each of its Gran Selezione wines. This sample sees fruit from sandy and silty soils in the Val d'Arbia at lower elevations (ranging from 280 to 300 meters above sea level). The 2019 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Castello di Brolio CeniPrimo is a wine of structure and concentration with generous layers of dark fruit, spice, earth and candied cherry. CeniPrimo focuses on dark fruit and texture." 96 Points - Wine Advocate
"Super spicy from the aromas through the finish, this red is sleek and taut. Features strawberry, currant, cherry and earth flavors, peppery spices and a kick of vanilla on the firm finish. Though delicate, there is no lack of intensity." 96 Points - Wine Spectator
"The 2019 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione CeniPrimo is incredible in its undulating aromatics of ripe yet pure cherry liqueur, delicate baking spice, and wooded earth. There is a luxurious sheen without feeling oaky, and it complements the wine in all the right ways. The palate is medium-bodied and refined, with fine tannins and an airy feel. It doesn’t have a lot of mid-palate weight, but it is long through the palate, with a gorgeous soft mineral texture and lingering perfume." 95 Points Jeb Dunnuck

Grape: Sangiovese
2019 in Chianti Classico produced really well balanced wines, with a good balance of ripe tannins, crisp acidity and intense fruity aromas. Flowering occurred in May successfully, despite low temperatures and lots of rainfall. Summer was mostly hot and dry, with some bursts of rain.
The nose is intricate and subtle, layered with fresh red berries, lavender and mineral tones. On the palate, it is seamless, with silky smooth tannins, and hitting that sweet-spot of concentration, intensity and balance.
Bistecca alla Fiorentina would be an appropriate, Tuscan-inspired dish to pair with this wine.
