Grape: Cabernet Sauvignon
2008 began with rain which acted as a great deterrent for spring frosts. The summer was dry and allowed full ripeness of the Cabernet Sauvignon.
This wine is rich and concentrated with entwined layers of cassis, violet, tobacco and dark chocolate and slight savoury nuances with velvety fruit tannins on the finish.
First made in 1982, the John Riddoch Cabernet Sauvignon was conceived as a flagship wine for Wynns. John Riddoch himself was a true visionary. Amongst his many achievements are the building of the Wynns Gabled winery and the establishment of the Coonawarra Fruit Colony.
