Chardonnay

Chardonnay is the most planted white grape in the world and it's flavours are very different according to the area and the ageing method. Most known as white Burgundy, but also grown in Chablis and in the Champagne area for the production of the infamous bubble.

The aromas for Chardonnay differ according to the area: in Chablis it offers green fruit (apple, pear) with citrus and vegetable notes, and in Burgundy the aromas of peach with citrusy notes and hints of melon. Buttery notes and dairy scents can sometimes be found where the grapes have been through malolactic fermentation. Toasty notes with vanilla and coconut can be detected when the Chardonnay has been aged in oak.
