Veuve Clicquot La Grande Dame 2015 Paronetto Scuro 75cl

* Required Fields

Veuve Clicquot La Grande Dame 2015 Scuro is a dark navy colour from the Paronetto range. This new 2015 edition is a collaboration between Veuve Clicquot and famous Italian ceramicist, Paola Paronetto which exquisitely meets the expression of Veuve Clicquot's excellence. The tactile label and gift box draws on Paronetto's Cartocci collection, with its characteristic ridged texture, and uses a range of colours from her extensive palette. The design is an expression of joy and optimism.

Madame Clicquot said that Veuve Clicquot's "black grapes give the finest white wines" and this continues to be reminiscent today, with Pinot Noir making up 90% of the blend of La Grande Dame. The Pinot Noir grape is beloved for its versatility, expressing differences between sites, growing conditions and the vagaries of weather patterns.

“2015 shows off the sunny fruits of the year with more grip and intensity than the 2008 and 2012. Fleshy orange, red pear, dried pineapple and chewy grapefruit peel build on a firmly structured frame, although there is a suppleness of nougat and acacia honey lurking in the middle that promises to emerge with a little patience. The bustling energy of the vintage is sitting proud for now, bitter almond and fruit skin building to an energising close despite the moderate acidity. An edition that will perform especially well at the table.” - Tom Hewson for Decanter : 94 points

“A soft colour and gentle mousse; the nose is at first flinty-reductive, oyster shell and green apple to the fore, red fruit hitherto intriguingly absent. The floral notes are next to appear; jasmine and a touch of honeysuckle; delicate and upstanding. A little aeration and a little more by way of revelation; a citric foundation, then a slow build of honey, nutmeg, and just a whisper of ginger. Subtle power, la force tranquille; the dance of the seven veils is well under way, this promising plenty of drama to come and a more than happy ending.” - Simon Field MW : 94-95 points
Grape: Chardonnay, Pinot Noir
2015 was a hot, sunny and dry vintage in Champagne. Indeed, it was the hottest ever recorded at the time. Some rain in August gave the vines much-needed hydration, and cool nights helped the grapes retain acidity. Yields were fairly low. As a result, the 2015 vintage Champagnes are excellent, with rich fruit and well-balanced acidity.
With fresh minerality and light floral notes of jasmine, this champagne presents aromas of acacia. The body develops further and evolves into fruitier notes of pear and clementine. The palate presents a delightfully subtle and silky texture. When held up to the light, La Grande Dame 2015 reveals a beautiful golden robe that sparkles brightly.
