Gosling

View Our Selection of Gosling Online

Gosling roots are dated back in 1806 when James Gosling, the oldest son of William Gosling set out from Gravesend, Kent, on the ship to Mercury, with £10.000 worth of wines and spirits bound to America.  After 90 days on beclamed seas their charter ran out and they put in a nearest port, St.George's Bermuda, and this is where the story began. In 1824 James and his brother rented a shop on Front Street in the new capital of Hamilton, which they have maintained for 127 years.
The Gosling Brothers developed a blend which became very famous back in the world war, the rum was sold in Champagne bottles reclaimed from the British Officer's Mess and the corks keaked with black sealing wax. The play on words soon became their brand as was already popular and they gave birth to the image of the black seal juggling the barrel.
