Marques de Murrieta Castillo Ygay 2010 Wine Magnum Wood Box 150cl, this is a cuvée of mostly Tempranillo with the balance of Mazuelo (Cariñena), a very important grape for Castillo de Ygay in percentages that vary depending on the vintage.
Marques de Murrieta - Castillo Ygay Gran Reserva Especial 2010 is a complex and elegant classic. Only the finest vintages from the 741-acre (300-hectare) Ygay Estate are used to make Castillo Ygay. This Gran Reserva Especial is made from Tempranillo and Mazuelo from vineyards located at 500 meters above sea level. Limited in production and sought after all over the world, it is the worthy choice for our emblematic Castillo Ygay label.

This vintage benefits from Rioja's decision to reduce yields for red wines by 10% in order to improve quality even further. The weather throughout 2010 was favourable resulting in a healthy and even harvest evident in the excellent balance and structure in the wines, perfect for long ageing.
The nose holds intense aromas of red fruits, truffle and hints of spice. The palate is full-bodied with a silky smooth mouthfeel, great intensity and impeccable balance.
Perfect with a combination of dishes and flavours such as braised wood pigeon, Iberian ham, crispy codfish skin, cheese with black truffles, souffle potatoes, black pepper, cocoa or sour cherry jam.
